The Texas Rangers have lost second baseman Rougned Odor due to injury. He’s been now placed on the disabled list, and Jurickson Profar is taking over the position for the time being.

The injury occurred in the first inning of the Texas Rangers opening game against the Los Angeles Angels. The injury appears to be a pulled hamstring. Rougned Odor had his injury evaluated, and it has been diagnosed a strained hamstring. It’s unclear how much time he’ll miss, but we can expect him to miss at least two weeks.

Odor’s start has been average. However, the Rangers are off a terrible start. Odor’s not the only headed to the disabled list, but starting pitcher, Doug Fister is joining him. With these two hurt, opportunities have come for Profar, as well as Bartolo Colon.

More from Texas Rangers

Profar’s career with the Rangers since breaking on the scene back in 2012 has been nothing but disappointment thanks to numerous injuries. It even came to the point where Profar wanted out of the organization. Somehow and someway, the Rangers have managed to secure Profar and there have been no further incidents.

Profar was not expected to make the Opening Day roster, but he put a good performance in spring training and earn a spot on the roster. That’s a good start to save his career.

Now, he’s got a golden opportunity to impress not only the Rangers organization but also the fanbase, as most of the fanbase has moved on from him. Profar’s still a very young player, so he’s still got a career ahead of him, but he’s got to make the most of his golden opportunity. In other words, he needs to play good baseball.

The Texas Rangers are 4-9, and they’ve yet to win a series. So far it’s been a mess of a season. They’ve got to turn things around post haste.
