Houston won the opener 8-4 thanks to Yordan Alvarez’ two-hit, three-RBI game. That highlighted a 13-hit Houston attack.
Zack Greinke stifled the A’s and out-pitched Sean Manaea in Houston’s 7-2 Tuesday victory. The Astros backed Greinke with home runs by George Springer, Alvarez and Yuli Gurriel.
In the series’ finals, Marcus Semien’s walk-off double drove home Matt Olson with the deciding run in a 4-3 Oakland victory.
The AL Central-leading Minnesota Twins showed off their muscle in Seattle, scoring 38 times in a three-game series with the still-winless Mariners. One-sided? Try 13-4, 11-3 and 14-1. Eddie Rosario went 6-for-14 with 8 RBIs, Miguel Sano was 8-for-14 with 5, and Twins catchers went a combined 8-for-14 with 9 RBIs.
The Los Angeles Angels took two of three games from Texas in Arlington. The teams split the first two games, then Dylan Bundy with help from the Angels pen shut out Texas on just four singles.
