2020 MLB Season: Simulating NL Games (April 13-16)

National League Central

Milwaukee took two routs against the Phillies, but the visitors held on to take the two closer contests and pick up the split.

On Monday Keston Hiura’s four hits led a 13-hit Brewer attack in a 10-3 victory. The Brewers took a 3-1 lead into the ninth on Tuesday before the Phillies lit up Brent Suter and Cory Knebel for five ninth-inning runs. Adam Haseley and Jay Bruce both homered.

The Phils staged another comeback for a 7-6 11 inning victory on Wednesday. Scott Kingery’s three-run ninth-inning home run off Josh Hader tied the game, and Rhys Hoskins’ 11th inning blast off Knebel put the visitors ahead to stay.

Milwaukee bounced back Thursday with a 10-2 decision. Ben Gamel’s three hits drove in three runs, and Corbin Burnes pitched seven strong innings.

The Reds took the first two games of their three-game series against the visiting Giants. In the Tuesday opened, Eugenio Suarez and Nick Senzel both homered and drove in three runs in an 11-6 win for Trevor Bauer.

The Reds won again Wednesday, this time 9-4, behind Luis Castillo’s seven strong innings. Aristides Aquino homered twice and drove in four runs.

The Giants got a slice of satisfaction Thursday, winning 7-4 behind a 16-hit attack in support of Tyson Ross. Evan Longoria had four of those hits and Brandon Belt added three more.

The Cubs lost two games in Baltimore before dropping their series opener in Washington. You can find details of that series at this link.
