Donaldson’s masterful series shot him to the top of the AL batting stats; at .385 he leads Kansas City’s Alex Gordon (.358) by 27 points. Donaldson and Chicago’s Abreu are tied in RBIs, each with 47. That’s seven more than Houston teammates Yordan Alvarez and Alex Bregman.

Abreu, Kansas City’s Jorge Soler, and Minnesota’s Miguel Sano share the AL home run lead, each with 18.

Odorizzi’s 6-3 Tuesday win over Detroit pulled him even with Justin Verlander in victories, each with seven.  Although Zack Greinke lost 3-2 Monday to Kansas City, he stood atop the AL ERA list at 2.15, ahead of Boston’s Collin McHugh (2.53) and Chicago’s Lucas Giolito (2.56).

With 85, Giolito holds the strikeout lead, two ahead of Verlander and Lance Lynn. Giolito fanned 10 Padres Wednesday.

The feature of this weekend’s games has the East-leading Yankees traveling to Minute Maid to take on the West-leading Astros. Verlander, Greinke, and Cole are all in line to make starts during the series.

The Central-leading Twins, meanwhile, put their lead on the line in Cleveland, where the Indians host them for three games.

In other action, Baltimore is in Tampa-St. Pete for three, Toronto concludes its four-game series with the White Sox in Chicago, and the Los Angeles Dodgers come to Kauffman Stadium to play the Royals.

The Oakland A’s are in Anaheim for three, Detroit visits Seattle, and the Red Sox continue their four-game series with the Texas Rangers in Arlington.
