In this 2020 MLB season AL sim, in the AL West. the Angels make their run.

The Angels approach the All-Star break with the likelihood of a plus-.500 record, something that seemed out of reach as little as two weeks ago. They intensified that prospect by taking three of four from the Detroit Tigers.

On Monday Julio Teheran delivered seven innings of four-hit ball and Los Angeles won 4-1. Albert Pujols doubled home two key runs.

The Tigers rebounded with an 8-7 11 inning decision Tuesday, the winner scoring on Dawel Lugo’s base hit. But on Wednesday, Alex Rendon homered twice and Pujols drove in three runs during a 9-6 Angels win that wasn’t as close as it sounds, the Tigers scoring four times in the ninth.

The Angels concluded the series Thursday with a 2-1 10-inning thriller decided on Tommy LaStella’s RBI single, which got Brian Goodwin across. Kenyan Middleton pitched the final two and two-thirds innings and got the victory.

After splitting with the Giants in San Francisco, the A’s moved up to Seattle for the opener of a weekend series. The Mariners tapped Mike Fiers for five runs in six innings of a 7-4 win. Fiers commanded a 4-2 advantage until the Mariners kayoed him with a five-run seventh featuring home runs by Kyle Seager and Mitch Haniger. That made a winner of Yusei Kikuchi, 6-6.

The Texas Rangers started their week in Miami well enough, winning 5-1 Tuesday behind Jordan Lyles. He pitched into the eighth, allowing just that single run and four hits. Robinson Chirinos homered twice.

But that was it for the Rangers. On Wednesday Caleb Smith – with bullpen help – claimed a 4-3 win thanks to a pair of Garrett Cooper home runs off Luke Farrell. The Marlins breezed to a 7-1 win Thursday behind Sandy Alcantara, who allowed just five hits in a complete-game performance. This time it was Harold Ramirez supplying the power in the form of a pair of home runs.
