Today’s MLB is flooded with amazing young talent and the all 25 and under team will show that.

The MLB is at a great spot right now as far as young talent goes, and the game is in great hands in the future. There aren’t just a couple of young prodigies in the league, but there’s a ton of young stars around the whole league.

Enough stars to fill an insanely dominant MLB roster. Here we will go position by position and create an MLB team of players all 25 years old or younger. It might surprise you how loaded this team is.

Infield

  • C: Will Smith (LAD)
  • 1B: Pete Alsonso (NYM)
  • 2B: Ozzie Albies (ATL)
  • 3B: Rafael Devers (BOS)
  • SS: Fernando Tatis Jr. (SD)

This infield contains the reigning home run king in Pete Alonso who posted a .951 OPS with 53 HR. He is one of the top sluggers in all of baseball after just one season in the bigs.

The starting second baseman, Ozzie Albies, might be one of the most underrated players in the entire MLB as he is always behind the shadow of Ronald Acuna Jr. and Freddie Freeman in Atlanta. With an 8.4 fWAR, Albies is 25th among all MLB players the past two seasons which were his first two full seasons. Albies is quietly a budding superstar in the MLB.

Rafael Devers of the Boston Red Sox at third base was quietly one of the best hitters in the entire MLB at just 22 years old in 2019. Devers’ 252 hard-hit balls led the entire MLB as well as his 90 extra-base hits. Now at 23 years old, Devers is already one of the games elite hitters and still has room to grow as a player.

Fernando Tatis Jr. at shortstop is one of the most intriguing players in the MLB right now, and he was amazing in his 84 games in 2019 for the San Diego Padres. His .969 OPS and .398 wOBA both ranked 7th among all hitters with at least 300 PA. Not to mention he tallied 16 SB and a 3.6 fWAR in half a season. Tatis Jr. has an incredibly bright future.

The catcher position is certainly the weakest spot here, but Will Smith of the Dodgers was very good as a rookie in 2019. In 54 games he hit 15 HRs and posted a .904 OPS. Whether he can keep that type of production up for a full season remains to be seen, but the potential is there regardless.

Now, let’s take a look at who plays outfield and DH for MLB’s All 25 and under team.

Outfield

  • LF: Juan Soto (WAS)
  • CF: Ronald Acuna Jr. (ATL)
  • RF: Cody Bellinger (LAD)

This outfield is simply amazing with three of the very best outfielders in the entire MLB. Bellinger won 2019 NL MVP and ranked 2nd among all outfielders in fWAR at 7.8. Acuna ranked 6th among all outfielders with a 5.6 fWAR and Soto ranked 8th with a 4.8 fWAR.

All three players provide elite skills at the plate, and Acuna and Bellinger also provide you with some of the most elite outfield defense. Bellinger tallied 23 DRS in the outfield and Acuna put up a very strong 11 DRS as well.

DH/Bench Players

  • DH: Yordan Alvarez (HOU)

Yordan Alvarez was arguably the best hitter in the majors last year once he came up for the Houston Astros. Here were his MLB ranks among hitters with at least 350 PA:

  • OPS: 1.067 (3rd)
  • wOBA: .432 (3rd)
  • wRC+: 178 (2nd)
  • ISO: .342 (3rd)
  • Hard Hit %: 51.1% (4th)

Posting these numbers as a rookie was absolutely insane. On most of those stats, the only two hitters he was behind were Mike Trout and Christian Yelich, so that shows what kind of company he is in.

Whether he can do this for a full season remains to be seen, but even doing it for over half a season as Yordan played 87 games is incredible and shows what he’s capable of.

Having Alvarez as a DH is putting someone who will be one of the most feared hitters in the MLB moving forward right in the middle of your lineup.

Bench:

  • 3B: Yoan Moncada (CHI)
  • SS: Gleyber Torres (NYY)
  • OF: Austin Meadows (TB)
  • C: Carson Kelly (ARI)

These are a few of the guys that just missed out of the starting lineups. Having Yoan Moncada who hit .315 with a .915 OPS and Gleyber Torres who hit 38 HRs with a .871 OPS as backup infielders on this roster just shows how much young talent there is in the game today.

Austin Meadows was also amazing with Tampa Bay last year with 33 HRs and a .922 OPS while making his first All-Star Game. Carson Kelly of the D-Backs also serves as a very good backup at catcher with some pop as he hit 18 HRs with a .826 OPS in 2019.

Who takes the bump for MLB’s All 25 and under team?

Starting Rotation

  • RHP: Jack Flaherty (STL)
  • RHP: Walker Buehler (LAD)
  • RHP: Shane Bieber (CLE)
  • RHP: Mike Soroka (ATL)
  • RHP: Chris Paddack (SD)

This rotation has no left-handed pitchers, but that doesn’t really matter when each day an absolute stud is on the mound.

More from MLB News

ERA / FIP / K/9

  • Jack Flaherty: 2.75 / 3.46 / 10.59
  • Walker Buehler: 3.26 / 3.01 / 10.61
  • Shane Bieber: 3.28 / 3.32 / 10.88
  • Mike Soroka: 2.68 / 3.45 / 7.32
  • Chris Paddack: 3.33 / 3.95 / 9.79

These numbers speak for themselves and show just how great all of these guys are. The fact that all at 25 years or younger their average ERA was 3.06 and all their K/9 were all right at 10 or over except for Soroka (more of a contact pitcher) shows how dominant these guys are.

It’s very impressive in today’s MLB that a rotation with guys this good can be compiled at such a young age.

Bullpen

  • RHP: Roberto Osuna (HOU)
  • LHP: Jose Alvarado (TB)
  • RHP: Jordan Hicks (STL)
  • LHP: Julio Urias (LAD)
  • RHP: Seranthony Dominguez (PHI)
  • LHP: Darwinzon Hernandez (BOS)
  • RHP: Freddy Peralta (MIL)
  • RHP: Emmanuel Clase (CLE)

Finding elite young relievers is definitely harder than filling out the rest of the roster as relief pitchers often develop into their roles. Here we actually have a great bullpen with one of the top closers in the MLB with Roberto Osuna who at 25 years old has a 2.77 career ERA with 154 saves.

This bullpen has some of the best pure pitches in all of baseball. Jordan Hicks’ sinker has an average velocity of 101.1 MPH and a slider that moves 6.7 inches more horizontally than the average slider.

Jose Alvarado’s sinker averages 98.1 MPH, Seranthony Dominguez’s sinker averages 98.3 MPH, Emmanuel Clase’s fastball averages 99.5 MPH.

Darwinzon Hernandez had the highest K/9 among all pitchers with at least 25 IP in 2019 with K/9 of 16.46, which was just ahead of Josh Hader.

Julio Urias will be a starter moving forward, but on this roster he’d offer great long relief just as he did for the Dodgers in 2019, posting a 2.01 ERA in 49.1 IP as a reliever.

Next. Short season could be answer for Chris Davis. dark

The 25 years and younger bullpen is amazing. The rotation is amazing. The lineup is amazing. The whole 25 years old and younger MLB roster is loaded and shows just how great of hands the future of the game is in. The names on this team will likely be the names we hear year in and year out for quite a while.
